You can make Espresso and black coffee at the touch of a button. Meanwhile, milky drinks such as Cappuccino or Latte Macchiato are prepared by additionally frothing the milk with an integrated steam frother.
In order to froth milk foam with the help of this coffee machine, you have to: 1. Press the steam button and wait for the temperature light on the screen to stop flashing; 2. Immerse the steam wand in a cup/glass with milk and rotate the knob in the upper left corner of the coffee machine; 3. Froth milk by slowly immersing the steam wand deeper into the milk; 4. Turn off the steam by rotating the knob once you’ve reached the desired result, but before the milk starts boiling. When preparing drinks from pre-ground coffee, we recommend measuring the amount of coffee as accurately as possible — use a scoop that is included in the set. If you put too much coffee into the machine, it may not be able to brew the drink properly.
It’s possible to use “De’Longhi” coffee machines without a water filter, but it’s crucial to set the right water hardness based on the result of the water hardness test. The key differences are the colour of the body and the material that the milk frother is made from: the “21.117W” model is equipped with a metallised milk frother.

I was looking for a replacement for my Philips Saeco Bean-to-cup macine and this one seemed to tick all of the right boxes. The online research reviews were consistently excellent and this looked like the one to go for. I then had to find the best deal out there. The price that Coffee Mate was offering was about 10% lower than the rest of the competition for the same machine. They also threw in a bag of good quality beans. Delivery was quick and I couldn’t wait to try out the machine. I was not disappointed. The machine is quick and reasonably quiet. I have been using the machine for a couple of weeks now and am very happy with the results.

I had the previous incarnation of this machine, which was great. A few little things had started to happen to it as it had been used a lot. I have MS and didn’t feel confident about ordering the parts and fixing it myself. And I couldn’t be bothered to arrange for the machine to be sent for repair. I did my research on the internet and found this site and this machine. After researching on both I decided to place an order. At over £100 cheaper than other retailers I did wonder if there was a catch. There wasn’t, great communication and a swift delivery. Machine is great, better than the previous one. The initial coffee seems hotter and the steamer seems more powerful so the finished drink seems hotter. In my opinion this machine makes a great cup of coffee, I would definitely recommend it and thecoffeemate website.

We are loving the machine a few weeks in! Actually drinking less coffee as the ones we are having are more satisfying. A few different settings to play with but pretty easy to figure out and there are YouTube vids available for most things.

Excellent machine at a good price. It makes great coffee once you’ve set it to your taste and is very easy to use once set up. One press of a button and it whirrs into action, grinding your beans and then pouring your coffee. Does use a fair bit of water due to its self cleaning routines but the water tank is large and easy to fill. Various lights on the display advise you about such things as when the beans need refilling, the grounds container needs emptying and the water tank needs refilling. It’s a very clever and well designed machine for the serious coffee drinker.
