When the 1-cup button and 2-cup button flash simultaneously before and after you have brewed a cup of coffee, you have to descale the machine.
To clean your appliance, follow the steps outlined below:
1. You can clean the outside of the machine with a damp soft cloth. 2. Remove the coffee spout. You can disassemble the coffee spout for more thorough cleaning. 3. To prevent clogging, clean the pod holders regularly with hot water, some washing-up liquid and a washing-up brush. 4. You can clean all detachable parts with hot water and some washing-up liquid or in the dishwasher.
Note: Never use scouring pads, abrasive cleaning agents or aggressive liquids such as petrol or acetone to clean the machine.
The Direct Start function allows you to switch on your coffee machine and brew coffee with one touch of a button. When you press the 1-cup button or the 2-cup button, this button starts flashing, the machine starts heating up and then starts to brew coffee. When the machine has finished brewing, it switches off automatically to save energy.
