In the Gayo Heights of the Aceh Region, located on the island of Sumatra, Indonesia, small farmers are gathered in the Koptan Gayo Beseri Cooperative to grow specialty coffee. Its unique taste is determined by perfect climate, rich nature and, as Indonesians call GILING BASAH, way of coffee bean processing. This method does not completely dry the beans after fermentation and rinsing. Still damp beans (retaining 25-30% moisture) enter a special peeling machine before the drying process is continued. As a result, the acidity of coffee is greatly reduced and the flavour gets more intensive – this way coffee beans acquire the flavour of true Indonesian coffee.

Israel Degfa-owned coffee processing station “Anasora” is located in the highlands of the Guji Zone of Ethiopia. The station, which is located near the river Tur, produces premium quality coffee that is made from locally picked coffee beans by 1000 of small farm owners from Oroma ethnic groups. Ethiopia’s coffee world is fully aware of Israeli Degfa, he is highly respected for his care and support for local coffee growers who produce one of the most delicious coffees in the world.

Coffee made from these ancient Ethiopian Arabica coffee beans is the most floral of our assortment – the fragrance is filled with jasmine notes, which is supplemented with sweet hints of blueberries and blackberries. The taste has berry sweetness with a long-lasting pleasant aftertaste.
At Haile Gebre “Shakisso” plantation coffee is grown at the height of 1800 m. Established in 2001 and located in the south of Oromia in the Guji region of Ethiopia, coffee is grown organically. The farm is certified by Fairtrade and Rainforest Alliance certifications for sustainable agriculture. This coffee can also be rightfully named golden, as gold mines are in the middle of the farm – the fields of coffee plants are simply filled with pits dug by gold seekers. And while there are additional dangers and challenges for coffee pickers in harvesting this coffee, the perfect taste of coffee redeems all the hassle.
